
Classrooms are working together to create classroom agreements. In Room 104, Mrs. Thomas reviews the agreements with each student before they "sign" the poster. In this classroom they agreed to walking feet, listening ears, inside voices and to be kind.

Today Wintonbury had our very first Friday Try Day of the year and all students tasted cantaloupe!

Mr. Turner's class (room 104) took advantage of this beautiful day to do some cooking in the mud kitchen!

Today we welcomed students and their families to Meet and Greet. Students reunited with or were introduced to their teachers and explored their classroom. We are excited to see children back on campus!

Very hot weather provided perfect conditions for water play! Some classrooms will be having water play days. A variety of sprinklers, water tables, buckets and more, create a joyful outdoor experience and water exploration..

Today we welcomed The Children's Museum of West Hartford. Over the next five days they will be visiting with classrooms to teach students about different skin coverings on animals. Animals today included a guinea pig, chinchilla, tree frog, snake and tarantula.

Wintonbury's own Melinda Mellady and Emily Gonzalez were honored at the Yard Goats game this past Saturday.. Melinda Mellady was Wintonbury's 2024-25 teacher of year and Emily Gonzalez was Wintonbury's support staff of the year.

Students in Mrs. Thomas' room (104) donned tie dye shirts celebrating the 2024-2025 school year!



On Friday Community Services Officer Rach Moise visited Wintonbury l with Doug and K9 Banner from the Forever in my Heart Foundation! Students had the chance to meet and pet a very friendly ESA (Emotional Support Animal) dog. With guidance, the children learned the proper and respectful ways to approach and interact with animals. Moments like these help build confidence, compassion, and lifelong lessons in empathy and kindness. 🐾🐶

Today is safety day at Wintonbury! Office Moise of the Bloomfield Police Department arranged for a variety of safety vehicles to visit Wintonbury. All children experienced sitting in a fire truck and a police car. They even got to sound alarms and sirens from the driver's seat! Thank you to the Bloomfield Police and Fire Departments for providing this enriching opportunity.

Bloomfield Public Schools has been busy all week showing all of our staff members just how much we appreciate everything they do on behalf of Bloomfield students. We chose the week of May 5th-9th because it's National Teacher Appreciation Week!

Today we had a Hop-A-Thon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in memory of a former Wintonbury student. The whole school danced together to "Better When I'm Dancing" by Meghan Trainor.

Thank you to one of our parents, Dr. K , who helped students in Room 101 use a microscope to see flowers and bees! The students noticed how the microscopes helped them to observe more details. It was a wonderful opportunity to be scientists, observe nature, and extend learning.

Wintonbury celebrated Earth Day yesterday by planting sunflower seeds. Sprouting plants will be observed in the classrooms and the green house. Every child will take a plant home and the rest will be planted on the school grounds.
