Thank you Wintonbury PTO for providing a delicious lunch to our staff to kick off Teacher's Appreciation Week. It was such a treat to have a buffet of salad, sandwich and dessert offerings for our dining pleasure. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and for making us feel appreciated!

At Wintonbury today we also danced and hopped at the same time to the song Can't Stop that Feeling. We did this as part of Project Aces (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) and the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) Hop-a-Thon.

Students in Mrs. Guidice's class (room 106) filled cardboard vases with dandelions. Extra dandelions were picked and crushed to create dandelion paint.

Also on Earth day, Ms. Cole's class (room 301) collected garbage on the school grounds. This will help keep our Earth clean and healthy.

Happy Earth Day! Today, every child at Wintonbury is planting two sunflower seeds. After they sprout, one will go home and one will be planted in Wintonbury's outdoor spaces.

Mrs. Hein's class (room 201) was excited to discover 19 tadpoles hatched from eggs laid by their South African frog. Students are lining up to observe the tadpoles and anticipate their transformation into frogs! More to come.

At Wintonbury today we tasted tomatillos for our Friday Try day!

Students in Mr. Turner's class (room 304) worked together to build an intricate structure with cups.

Mrs. Lomnicky's class (room 203) has a theater! Students take on roles such as selling tickets, serving "popcorn" and "soda" and being an audience member. This puppet theater is used as an opportunity for students to retell familiar stories.

Please be aware that we have an outage in our Outlook mail system. Currently, we unable to send or receive emails. Please call the school for communication regarding absences, changes in dismissal plans or any other pressing issues that need to be communicated today. Be assured our technology department is working diligently on restoring our email service.

Student's in Ms. Mellady's classroom (205) experimented with balls and ramps in the building area.

Students in Mrs. Hein's room (201) were whipping up some "cakes" in the water table!

Traffic was heavy in Mrs. Mancini's classroom (206) when the Dunkin' drive up window opened up. A lot of conversation was generated by the selection and purchase of goodies.

Thank you to the Vocational Agricultural Center at Bloomfield High School for acquiring ten lemon tree plants for our classrooms. These plants helped to bring to life the story told by our visiting author, When Grandma Gives you a Lemon Tree.

We were thrilled to welcome author Jamie L. B. Deenihan to Wintonbury today! She read her book When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree and demonstrated the life cycle of a lemon tree.
